In 1997 in the
United Kingdom, 25% of all sales of high performance
superminis were
Saxos
- the 90 bhp VTR and 120 bhp VTS outselling rivals
from Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Volkswagen, Renault and
Fiat. More than 6,000 hot Saxos were sold in Britain
in 1997 in a year when total Saxo sales exceeded
50,000 to become Citroën's fastest selling car ever.
