Citroën
C6: A car to stir the emotions…
The Citroën C6 has arrived. The latest
addition to an historic line of great
Citroëns, with a stunning look in
keeping with the Marque's reputation for
style, the C6 takes the grand tourer
concept and incorporates the latest
cutting-edge technology. The Citroën C6
is truly a car to stir the emotions.
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the
C6 is an executive saloon that adds the
crowning touch to the range. The C6 has
been inspired by the great Citroëns of
the past, models that have helped the
Marque to establish a strong heritage in
large cars.
The C6 takes the essential values of
executive saloons – elegance,
sophistication and on-the-road presence
– and combines them with the Marque's
own key values. Derived from classic
Citroëns and continuously updated, these
values are expressed through the use of
cutting-edge technology, innovative
styling and the pursuit of comfort.
With an emphasis on sophistication and
appeal, the C6 sets new standards for
design, comfort, refinement and the use
of the latest technology.
Together with flowing, elegant body
lines, the C6 boasts an interior of
original ergonomic design. The clean,
pure lines of the architecture, give the
occupants an immediate impression of
exceptional comfort. This outstanding
comfort is associated with the
understated and intuitive design of the
driving position. Although the
environment is completely new, the
driver immediately feels at ease.
The Citroën C6 features the latest
technical advances in terms of its
instrumentation, engines and
running gear.
This complete and innovative range of
high-tech features includes a head-up
display, lane departure warning system,
Xenon directional headlamps, suspension
with electronically controlled springing
and damping, and a new 208 bhp V6 HDi
engine.
From any angle, the Citroën C6 has all
the qualities necessary to ensure
maximum appeal.
Citroën
C6: original, emotive styling
An original design, the new Citroën C6
combines the Marque's own styling cues
with those of an executive car. The
proportions and profile immediately
identify it as a member of the Citroën
family.
The C6 features a long front overhang
and short rear overhang which, along
with the design lines and general
approach, bring powerful coupés to mind,
while the impressive list of features is
fitting of a prestige saloon.
At the front, the Citroën C6 features a
wide grille, with chrome-plated
chevrons, that spans the nose to the
vertical headlamps, which extend up onto
the wings.
A long wheelbase and flowing,
aerodynamic profile give the Citroën C6
real presence, while suggesting space,
stability and power.
The windows hug the curve of the roof
arch, which in turn blends smoothly into
the rear pillars, in a subtle nod to
coupé styling – an effect that is taken
one step further by the frameless doors.
At the rear, the design is particularly
eye-catching. The concave window extends
down to the boot lid and lights, thus
adding the finishing touch to the body
style. An air deflector is deployed
automatically at speed, illustrating the
attention paid to another key Citroën
value: aerodynamics.
The interior of the C6 creates an
immediate impression of space and
comfort. The pure lines of the
dashboard, high-quality materials and
comfortable, sculpted seats are an
invitation to step on board and enjoy a
relaxing ride.
Looking beyond styling, the Citroën C6
offers a radical approach to automotive
design, based on cutting-edge
technology, dynamics and comfort.
Citroën
C6: advanced technology for comfort
and driving pleasure
The Citroën C6 reinforces one of
Citroën's key values: innovation.
The innovative driving position
incorporates an easy-to-read driver's
instrument panel, a large central screen
and a head-up display. This display unit
projects essential information – on
speed and navigation for example – onto
the windscreen, thus contributing to
active safety.
A first in the Citroën range, the C6 is
equipped with an electric parking brake.
This new feature is offered alongside
numerous intelligent driving aids
pioneered by Citroën and already present
on the C4 and C5, such as the lane
departure warning system, front and rear
parking assistance, Xenon directional
headlamps, cruise control and a speed
limiter.
Top-of-the-range positioning of the
Citroën C6 is reflected by its engine
line-up: two V6 engines, one diesel and
one petrol, placing the emphasis on
driving pleasure and refinement. A new
HDi 2.7 litre engine develops 208 bhp
DIN (150 kW) and is equipped with a
particulate filter, while the 3-litre
petrol engine develops 215 bhp DIN (155
kW). Both engines are mated to 6-speed
automatic gearboxes
The running gear uses multi-link
suspension at front and rear, while the
suspension system features
electronically controlled springing and
damping. As a result, the C6 sets new
standards in comfort, road-holding and
driving pleasure.
Thanks to its exceptional driving
qualities and its exclusive approach to
the art of life on-board, the C6 is
perfectly placed to continue in the
footsteps of other great Citroëns.
Citroën
C6: executive standards of comfort and
relaxation
Each feature of the cabin contributes to
the overall comfort: multi-adjustable
seats, soundproofing, thermal comfort
and a specially designed driving
position.
The original design of the driving
position and ergonomic dashboard allows
drivers to keep their eyes on the road
at all times. The laminated side windows
of the C6 filter out external noise,
helping to create a relaxed atmosphere
on-board whilst also enhancing driver
concentration.
Occupants enjoy generous amounts of
space in the user-friendly interior.
Passengers in the back can adjust the
electrically-controlled sliding rear
seats to obtain the ideal relaxed
seating position.
The stowage compartments in the doors
are inspired by the latest trends in
home furniture design, thus reinforcing
the concept of the car as a 'lounge on
wheels'.
Citroën is continuously working to
improve passenger well-being, and the
air-conditioning on the C6 includes a
soft diffusion system, designed to
create a uniform blanket of air around
the passengers, and to enhance thermal
comfort.
The C6 also sets out to be a class
leader in safety, in terms of both
vehicle control and passenger
protection.
High-level active and passive safety are
provided by a range of features,
including ESP, a stiff body structure, a
knee airbag and active headrests.
Classic and yet thoroughly original, the
Citroën C6 sets itself apart from the
models that currently set the standard
in the sector, while meeting all the
requirements of an executive car:
elegance, refinement and presence.
On top of all this, the C6 adds
Citroën’s own unique stamp, combining
strong emotional appeal with the
application of cutting-edge technology.
Once more, Citroën is showing itself to
be a front runner in design, safety and
comfort.
The exceptional styling and exclusive
equipment of the C6 will immediately
appeal to all those who love cars and
driving.
An
original styling to stir the emotions
A symbol of the
Company’s expertise, the C6 joins a
select circle of executive saloons
from Citroën. It has the emotional
appeal required by true connoisseurs
of exceptional cars.
The
design lines and general approach give
the C6 the looks of a powerful coupé,
whilst its interior space and
impressive levels of equipment are
indicative of a prestige saloon.
The C6 is a
distinctive vehicle of majestic
allure, with a front end suggesting
power and prestige, a flowing,
aerodynamic profile and an original
rear end conveying an impression of
confidence and stability.
A front
end suggesting power and prestige
The elegant, taut lines and harmonious
styling of the C6 have a strong and
immediate appeal.
From a front ¾ view, the Citroën C6
conveys an impression of power with its
low-slung stance and large bumper that
features an integrated air intake
between the two round fog lamps and
daytime running lights.
The wide front end is accentuated by the
chrome chevrons that reach out to the
slim headlamps, as on other Citroën
vehicles. The originally shaped
headlamps provide a link between the
bumper, the wings and the long, smooth
curved form of the bonnet. Designed to
incorporate the side lights they
extend up onto the wings of the car.
The separation of the headlamps, daytime
running lights and fog lamps give the
Citroën C6 a piercing, determined gaze.
The shape, parallel lines and contours
of the front end give the C6 real
presence, and remind us that it is a
truly unique work of art.
A
flowing, aerodynamic profile
The stunning design of the C6 is
embodied by its flowing lines, energy,
aerodynamics and elegance. The body is
characterised by a long front overhang
and short rear overhang. The design and
shape of the C6 reflect the emotional
appeal of an elegant, dynamic coupé with
the proportions and features of an
executive limousine.
The attractive, imposing profile
of the C6 is showcased by its generous
dimensions – 1.86 m wide, 1.46 m
high and 4.91 m long, with a 2.90 m
wheelbase.
The cabin size is highlighted by the
long front and rear doors and by the
large glazed area, which lets the light
flood in. The windows on the frameless
doors – in themselves a nod to prestige
coupé design – also contribute to
creating a bright and airy interior.
The doors underline the impression of
elegance, contributing to the flowing
profile of the C6. The quarter window
integrates neatly with the rear door,
thus extending the line of the body, and
adding a further touch to the car's
natural elegance.
The harmonious design is also expressed
in the high, clearly marked waist line –
reinforcing the impression of safety –
and in the roof line whose contours run
the length of the body, down to the
concave window at the rear.
The profile of the C6 alternates taut,
radical lines with rounded, more natural
shapes. The wings house large-diameter
wheels. The proportions and dynamic
design of the wheels fill the wheel
arches, creating an impression of power
and agility allied with strength and
endurance.
As a further touch of refinement, the
lower body is smartly finished off by a
chrome strip that extends to the rear
bumper where the original design
reflects the attention paid to
innovative styling.
Original
rear end design, innovative styling
The Citroën C6 features a rear end with
a unique styling that reflects the
Marque's style cues.
In keeping with the spirit of large
Citroëns of the past, the Citroën C6 has
a concave rear window. Besides its
originality, the concave shape
highlights the generous size of the boot
and provides excellent visibility.
A discreetly integrated air deflector at
the top of the tailgate contributes to
vehicle stability at speed.
The spearhead-shaped, coloured rear
lights are positioned atop the rear
wings where, slightly offset, they meet
the roof arch.
Another key characteristic of the
determined and powerful-looking rear end
is the design of the rear pillars, which
help to protect the tailgate and
partially conceal the boot. The powerful
design of the front and rear ends
visually stabilise the car.
A chrome strip separates the boot and
the rear bumper, which highlights the
width of the body and incorporates a
chrome twin exhaust pipe.
Refined
interior styling
New
ergonomics
This user-friendly approach to comfort
is expressed by the presentation of the
spacious cabin, in which the various
functions are clearly laid out.
The front end houses a symmetrical
dashboard laid out around a central
half-moon console.
The clean, sculpted design of the
dashboard consists of straight, parallel
lines, symbolising precision, and curved
lines, symbolising dynamics. The styling
is both fluid and simple.
The upper section features a
multifunction screen, which is almost a
natural extension of the console.
In front of the driver, a discreet
digital instrument cluster is positioned
in such a way as to avoid reflections
that could make the information
difficult to read.
In addition to the information provided
on the central console – for example,
relating to the audio system, air
conditioning, navigation and other
functions etc – a head-up display
projects essential driving data onto the
windscreen. The cruise control/speed
limiter controls are mounted on the
steering wheel. The electric seat
controls, located on the doors, are easy
to use, since their layout reflects that
of the seat.
An electric parking brake frees up space
in the central console, which offers a
number of stowage compartments.
An
airy, well designed interior
The space, colours, premium materials
and high-quality finish of the cabin
ensure a high level of onboard comfort.
The use of leather, chrome and wood
creates a warm atmosphere.
A horizontal strip made of high quality
wood separates the upper and lower parts
of the dashboard, while many other
features contribute to creating a
refined, uncluttered, atmosphere that
places the emphasis on comfort and
well-being. Passengers feel that they
are travelling in a modern ‘lounge on
wheels’.
The seats and door panels are covered in
high-quality leather that is pleasant to
look at and to touch.
The curved contours convey an impression
of refinement.
The lids of the storage compartments in
each of the four doors feature a high
quality wood finish and a half-moon
design in keeping with the rest of the
styling of the dashboard.
The naturally bright interior creates a
real feeling of space and considerably
enhances on-board comfort during long
journeys.
Advanced technology plays a large part
in the on-board comfort of the Citroën
C6 and helps to insure that occupants
will enjoy a particularly relaxing
experience.
Useful
technology for a more pleasant driving
experience
The C6
demonstrates the best of Citroën
technology, featuring an array
of high-tech equipment, and bringing
considerable advances in efficiency,
comfort and safety.
Innovative
and practical equipment
A
head-up display for ergonomics and
safety
The C6 is the first Citroën to feature a
system that is rarely encountered in the
automotive market: a head-up display.
Key driving information – such as speed
and navigation data – is projected onto
the windscreen in the driver's direct
line of vision.
The head-up display makes a significant
contribution to safety with its direct
read-out. Drivers assimilate data more
quickly and do not have to look away
from the road. A total 0.5 seconds are
saved, based on the time normally taken
by drivers to look away from the road
and refocus on the screen in front of
them.
The virtual image is produced by a
projection unit in the dashboard, which
creates a remote display via the
windscreen.
The driver can decide which information
to display, from a list of possible
items, although the vehicle speed is
visible continuously when the system is
in operation.
Dedicated controls are located on the
dashboard, near the steering wheel. The
driver can switch the display on or off,
adjust image height and brightness and
select the information required.
An
electric parking brake
The C6 features an electric parking
brake, which automatically adjusts the
force necessary for correct brake
operation. The control for the electric
parking brake is located on the central
console.
The electric brake works in the same way
as a conventional handbrake.
The
Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
The C6 is fitted with a LDWS, previously
available on the C4 and C5, which is one
of the first systems designed to counter
the problem of drowsiness at the wheel.
Once activated, the LDWS detects any
unintentional lane changes on a motorway
or major road at speeds of 80 kph and
over.
A vibrating mechanism mounted in the car
seat is activated on the side
corresponding to the direction of
vehicle drift in order to alert the
driver, who can then steer the car back
on course.
Xenon
dual-function directional headlamps
The Citroën C6 is fitted with
electronically controlled Xenon
dual-function directional headlamps to
improve visibility when cornering.
These intelligent headlamps incorporate
an elliptical bi-Xenon directional
module, which works in both the low-beam
and high-beam positions to ensure
excellent visibility at night or in bad
weather. These headlamps improve
visibility around bends and help the
driver to distinguish other road users
and possible obstacles. This is an
important advantage in terms of safety
since, at a speed of 110 kph, the car
covers more than 30 metres every second.
Citroën first introduced this useful
innovation on the DS – another great
Citroën – although the
controls were operated mechanically at
the time.
Intelligent
features for everyday use
The Citroën C6's advanced technology
provides day-to-day assistance for the
driver.
Front
and rear parking assistance
Front and rear parking assistance is a
driving aid that has become essential
for urban dwellers, and in particular
for vehicles such as the C6, which have
a long wheelbase.
Sensors located in the front and rear
bumpers detect any obstacles close to
the vehicle. The bleeping loudspeaker
and the picture on the multifunction
screen tell the driver exactly how close
he or she is to the obstacle detected.
Rain
sensors
Using a rain sensor positioned on the
windscreen, this function controls the
automatic activation and rhythm of the
wipers. The driver no longer has to
operate the wiping function and can
therefore concentrate on the road.
The C6 is also the first vehicle in the
range to feature new butterfly
windscreen wipers. Two opposed arms
controlled by two synchronized electric
motors, perform a butterfly type
movement, allowing the blades to cover a
wide area of the windscreen. The
flat-blade design of the wipers ensures
quiet, efficient operation.
High-tech
communication equipment
To increase on-board comfort, the driver
can specify a range of high-tech
equipment including:
• a NaviDrive telematics system for
stress-free driving,
• a Bluetooth hands-free telephone
system to make and receive calls safely,
• a JBL hi-fi system for high-level
acoustics.
A
high-performance NaviDrive system
The C6 is available with the
new-generation NaviDrive telematics
system.
It offers a number of essential
functions: a GPS navigation system, a
GSM dual-band hands-free telephone with
access to the address book and audio
system (radio and 6-CD stacker). At the
same time, passengers can use the screen
or voice synthesis function to play back
SMS messages received over the phone.
The main functions can be accessed
easily using the steering-wheel
controls, which can also be used for the
voice recognition and synthesis
functions. NaviDrive can be controlled
by the user's voice, which is very
useful for making phone calls, finding
your way, or accessing the address book
without risk. The system can also be
operated directly using the unit built
into the dashboard, whilst the functions
are displayed on a large 16:9 colour
screen.
Alongside traffic information, NaviDrive
also offers a range of other customer
services: Citroën Emergency, Citroën
Assistance and Citroën On Line.
Working with the GPS and telephone
functions, Citroën Emergency makes it
possible (depending on the country) to
locate the vehicle if the driver has an
accident or is ill, for example, and to
access the services of a call centre.
Bluetooth,
to make and receive telephone calls
safely
The C6 can be equipped with a Bluetooth
hands-free telephone for which the
address book is displayed on the
multifunction screen. This hands-free
telephone system, using Bluetooth
wireless technology, is integrated into
the cabin.
Bluetooth is a convenient and safe
option for making in-car calls from a
mobile phone, since the driver can make
and receive calls without taking the
phone out of his or her pocket. In this
way, he or she keeps both eyes on the
road and both hands on the wheel.
A
high-level performance with JBL hi-fi
JBL, one of the world's leading audio
specialists, has developed a hi-fi
system specially for the C6. The new
system is designed to offer customised
acoustics that are worthy of an
executive car.
The system consists of ten loudspeakers
in six locations, and is controlled by a
special amplifier. This unit’s acoustic
settings are defined and optimised for
the cabin of the C6, allowing the driver
and passengers to enjoy excellent sound
quality at all times.
Through its use of advanced technology,
the Citroën C6 clearly states its grand
tourer ambitions. Perfectly suited to
everyday use, the C6 meets all the
fundamental requirements for a vehicle
in its category, particularly comfort.
An
executive vehicle setting high
standards for comfort and relaxation
LIFE ON
BOARD: AN INVITATION TO TRAVEL
Comfort
and freedom
A
spacious interior
The Citroën C6 is designed to satisfy
executive saloon customers looking for
outstanding space. With a wheelbase of
2,900 mm – the longest in its category –
the Citroën C6 is exceptionally roomy.
The interior dimensions of the Citroën
C6 play a fundamental role in ensuring
it sets high standards when it comes to
ergonomics, comfort, spaciousness, and
even safety.
The flat floor pan at the back increases
the impression of space and freedom, and
considerably improves the room available
in the rear.
The many perfectly integrated stowage
compartments located around the
passenger compartment also contribute to
the generous space and clearly
illustrate the car's functional
qualities.
The
comfort of a high-spec vehicle
The seats accommodate all the occupants
of the C6 in comfort, providing
excellent postural support for long
journeys.
In order to accommodate passengers of
all sizes, the front seats can be
adjusted back and forwards, for height
and rake, and for lumbar support.
The driver and passenger headrests pivot
forward in the event of rear impact.
The high-quality seats also bring
benefits for passengers at the rear. The
C6 can be fitted with premium comfort
individual, heated seats, which are
electrically controlled, allowing the
rear passengers to obtain the ideal
relaxed seating position.
Class-leading
acoustic comfort
Laminated
side windows for effective
soundproofing
Laminated side windows filter out wind
noise and exterior noise to provide
high-level acoustic comfort. They also
contribute to the security of the
Citroën C6, which has gained a five-star
rating from Thatcham.
The laminated side windows with
reinforced acoustic insulation consist
of two sheets of glass, with a plastic
interlayer, offering excellent acoustic
properties. This system absorbs sound
vibrations over a wide range of
frequencies, offering an excellent level
of performance in terms of sound
insulation.
In the event of accidental breakage or a
break-in, the glass sticks to the
plastic interlayer and remains in place.
The glass and plastic windows are
virtually impenetrable. This prevents
injury in the event of breakage, as well
as providing a barrier to stop people or
objects from being thrown out of the car
in the event of an accident. It also
offers efficient protection against
vandalism and break-ins.
Soundproofing:
a key factor in acoustic comfort
In addition to the laminated side
windows, other features also contribute
to the low interior noise levels, such
as the soundproofing on the bulkhead,
active engine mountings, and the
hydro-elastic rear cross-member mounts.
Outstanding acoustics and vibration
control create a peaceful atmosphere in
the cabin, for the pleasure and comfort
of both driver and passengers.
Excellent
thermal comfort
High-performance air conditioning
The pleasure of driving and travelling
is enhanced by the exceptional thermal
comfort available to all passengers. The
Citroën C6 features automatic air
conditioning with two-zone temperature
and distribution control.
This two-zone system provides individual
comfort for occupants at the front. The
driver and front passenger can adjust
the temperature and intensity of air
flow independently.
At the rear, a relay blower lets
passengers select the air flow
temperature and create a uniform
temperature more rapidly.
Soft
diffusion
In another innovative move by Citroën,
the C6 is equipped with a soft diffusion
system.
This system is designed to create a
uniform blanket of air around the
passengers, providing exceptional
thermal comfort with no draughts. This
ensures a softer air flow, with the air
being diffused through the front air
vents and rear blower.
This array of advanced driving aids
makes an active contribution to onboard
comfort, and functions alongside the
many other features that considerably
enhance the Citroën C6's dynamic
qualities.
ON THE
ROAD: IMPECCABLE ROAD MANNERS
The Citroën C6 boasts impeccable road
manners thanks to its original
combination of multi-link axles and a
suspension system featuring
electronically controlled springing and
damping.
In this way, the C6 is able to offer
unrivalled standards of comfort,
particularly in terms of suspension and
damping, vibration, road noise, and
steering.
Front
and rear suspension
Double
wishbone front suspension with a
linked hub carrier
The double wishbone and linked hub
carrier system separates vertical
suspension travel and deflection.
As a result, the Citroën C6 steers a
precise course in all circumstances,
even on uneven, bumpy roads. This
virtually eliminates steering vibrations
while optimising cornering precision.
Multi-link
integral rear suspension
The rear suspension features a
longitudinal arm linked to the hub
carrier to ensure longitudinal control
and to minimise vibrations.
The suspension is assembled on a light
alloy cross-member to provide good
geometrical precision and rigorous
dynamic control of each wheel, for
optimum driving dynamics.
Suspension
with electronically controlled
springing and damping: placing the
emphasis on efficiency
The C6's new hydro-pneumatic suspension
brings major improvements in comfort and
refinement compared with conventional
coil spring systems. It is coupled with
a damping control system that can be
modified instantaneously to place the
emphasis on comfort or sport. Sixteen
different control laws are
available.
This suspension maintains the vehicle at
a constant height, regardless of the
vehicle load and number of passengers.
To maintain vehicle attitude, body
height is monitored in real time by
height sensors on each wheel, which
supply data to the electronic control
module.
In specified conditions, this system can
automatically lower clearance by 12
millimetres from 110 kph, thus
optimising road-holding at high speed as
well as fuel consumption.
When the road is highly uneven and low
speed is necessary, the suspension
control unit increases ground clearance
by around 12 millimetres above the
normal position. The driver can
therefore continue safely over difficult
ground, without damaging the car.
This system ensures optimised driving
pleasure and truly exceptional comfort.
The suspension requires no maintenance
for five years or 200,000 km. It is
designed to smooth away imperfections
while ensuring an excellent ride, thus
contributing to the well-being of all
the passengers. The technologically
advanced engines also contribute to this
impression through their driveability.
Technologically
advanced engines
The C6 is available with two V6 engines,
each mated to a 6-speed automatic
gearbox.
Both engines offer a smooth build-up in
power with remarkably quiet running.
Petrol
engine: 215 bhp DIN 3.0 V6
This engine features similar technology
to the 3.0 V6 fitted on the C5, with 2%
more power (+ 3 kW) and torque (+ 5 Nm).
It delivers 155 kW EEC (215 bhp DIN) at
6,000 rpm and 290 Nm of torque EEC at
3,752 rpm.
This engine is fitted with a new exhaust
line and dual-mode active silencer,
which improves both performance and
engine noise. By redirecting the exhaust
gases in the silencer, this system
improves engine noise in normal
conditions of use and improves
performance under load.
In terms of environmental protection,
the V6 engine meets the Euro IV emission
standard.
Diesel
engine: 208 bhp DIN 2.7 V6 HDi
This new V6 diesel engine combines power
and fuel economy, and was developed as
part of the cooperation between the PSA
Group and Ford Motor Company. Delivering
a responsive performance from the lowest
engine speeds, it develops 150 kW EEC
(208 bhp DIN) at 4,000 rpm and torque of
440 Nm EEC at 1,900 rpm. It combines
smooth, gradual power with exceptional
operating comfort.
Developed specially for luxury cars,
this V6 engine uses advanced
technologies to achieve high levels of
performance and operating comfort.
Through its avant-garde design, this V6
engine satisfies the Euro IV emission
standard and is equipped with a
new-generation particulate filter, which
only requires maintenance every 200,000
km.
Driving pleasure is enhanced not only by
these two engines but also by a new
6-speed automatic gearbox as well as
variable hydraulic power steering.
Smooth gear changing ensures a level of
driveability that is commensurate with
the C6's ambitions.
Safety
and protection
Citroën's
uncompromising approach to safety, and
the prevention of accidents, is a key
priority.
An
advanced braking system
The C6's high-performance braking system
features four ventilated discs,
measuring 330 mm in diameter at the
front, and 302 mm at the rear.
With the dedicated braking assistance
and control functions as well as ESP,
the driver is able to maintain control
of the car and keep it on course even in
the most difficult driving situations.
In terms of passive safety, the Citroën
C6 features efficient restraint systems
for all the occupants, together with a
structure designed to resist the most
violent impacts.
The
body structure
The C6 incorporates the passive safety
features of the Group’s platform 3
vehicles. Introduced with the C5, this
platform base sets the highest standards
of driver and passenger protection, as
illustrated by the C5's exceptional
results in EuroNCAP tests.
Nine
airbags including one for the knees
The deployment pressure and volume of
the two front airbags depend on the
severity of impact.
A knee airbag provides improved
protection for the driver's knees and
shins by limiting any impact with the
steering column, which retracts by 80
mm.
Two side airbags integrated into the
front seats protect the chest and
abdomen of the driver and passengers in
the event of a side impact. The C6 is
also fitted with curtain airbags
designed to protect passengers in the
rear.
Active
head restraints
Active head restraints prevent whiplash
injuries in the event of a rear impact.
The force generated by the passengers'
upper bodies pressing against the seat
backs activates a lever system that
moves the head restraints forward to
cradle the occupant's head, and thus
avoid strain on the neck.
Through
its many qualities, the Citroën C6
represents a new approach to luxury
vehicle design. Its technical
qualities clearly set it apart from
the competition. The Marque's new
flagship model, the Citroën C6, is a
car to truly stir the emotions.
Innovative,
cutting-edge technologies make the C6
an exceptional car and underline
Citroën's pioneering approach to
design, safety and comfort.
