INTERNATIONAL GRAND PRIX STAR INTRODUCES NEW CITROEN TO THE U. S. A.

Watkins Glen, New York.

Departing from the Auto Industry's traditional salon-type introduction of new models, France's new Citroen made its debut in the U. S. A. on the internationally-famous Watkins Glen Grand Prix Race Course.  An assemblage of writers, press representative and members of the automotive community watched as the new Citroen DS 21 blistered the tortuous Grand Prix circuit in a display of speed and roadholding ability that was spectacular for a full size four-door passenger car.

Former world champion driver, Jack Brabham, who was placed third in the Grand Prix the day before, was at the wheel and guests were invited to enjoy a few laps with him to fully appreciate the potential of the new, more powerful Citroen.  Acclaim was unanimous for the sense of security and comfort passengers enjoyed as they whisked through "impossible" corners and howled down the straightaways at speeds far above highway limits.  For many, it was a particularly unique experience as they had never travelled in a car with Front Wheel Drive, never had decelerated with the power of disc brakes and never experienced the smooth stability of Hydropneumatic suspension, all combined in one automobile.

It was also noted that the wind-cheating aerodynamic shape of the Citroen was very much compatible with the car's advanced engineering and features.  This fact contributes to the Citroen's low fuel consumption.  For though the car will do 115 mph, it can also cruise at an attractive 25 miles per gallon.

Finally, with a typical French flourish, this introductory affair was climaxed with a Brunch at Watkins Glen's rustic Seneca Lodge.  Guests enjoyed the exciting aroma of Coty's new "Imprevu" perfume, as champagne, wine, quiche Lorraine and a variety of French delicacies topped off the morning's demonstration in the most fashionable Continental manner.

In addition to being one of the worlds top ranking drivers and former world champion Brabham is also a race car manufacturer.  He enters and drives his own cars.  Brabham placed third in the recent U.S. Grand Prix at Watkins Glen.
