British GS and GSA Advertisements

The Citroën GS
You've always wanted one.  We tell you why.

Styling
More to it than meets the eye
The Citroën GS is a car which gets noticed.  Its lines are trim and sleek, like those of an aircraft or ship.
Starting with a clean sheet of paper, Citroën's designers set out to create a new medium-sized car which was aerodynamically efficient.
So successful were they that the GS has about half the wind resistance of the average car.  And twice the eye appeal of more conventional, less individual designs.  You'd never guess one of the designers was a computer.

Comfort
Proved Hydropneumatic suspension
Switch on, and you feel the GS rising up.  This is the famous Citroën Hydropneumatic suspension coming to life.  Bumps are absorbed by the interaction of a fluid and a gas.  The floor of the car stays on the level, no matter how light or heavy the load or how irregular the road surface.
This suspension alone separates the GS from all other cars in its class.  It's exclusive to Citroën, and has been proved to be reliable and supremely effective over literally millions of miles.

Performance
Advanced, high efficiency engines
On the road, the GS moves smoothly and rapidly.
The light alloy air-cooled engine - 1220 or 1015 cc - was a brand-new design for the GS.
Its performance is a revelation.  The GS 1220 accelerates from 0 - 50 mph in a short 10.6 seconds.  it has a top speed of approximately 95 mph for continental driving when the conditions are right.

Safety
Sure handling, 4-wheel disc brakes
Suspension, front wheel drive and rack and pinion steering combine to make GS handling predictable and safe.
Brakes are dual circuit, with discs on all four wheels.

Prices include car tax but exclude VAT

Equipment
Most 'extras' are standard
Electronic rev counter, clock, cigar lighter, trip counter, 2-speed wipers, electric washers, efficient heating/ventilation system - all these are standard, as is the famous Citroën padded one-spoke steering wheel.
Seats are contoured for comfort.  Front seats are fully-reclining.  All four doors have an armrest.  Visibility is panoramic.  The boot is vast: 16.4 cu ft, and all usable because of its original flat-sided 'shoe-box' shape.

The GS Estate
Loadcarrier with a difference
Few dual-purpose cars do two jobs well.  The Citroën GS Estate does.
Its Hydropneumatic suspension adjusts to the weight carried.  Lightly laden or using its 53 cu ft loadspace to the full, the GS Estate shares the saloon's good styling, and all the other GS features.

A test drive?  No problems.
This is a car above its class in everything except prices, which start at £1068.17 plus VAT for the saloon and £1150.50 plus VAT for the Estate.
Your Citroën dealer will be delighted to arrange a test-drive.

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF GOOD REASONS FOR BUYING THE NEW CITROËN GSA.
ONE OF THEM COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE

The claim is no exaggeration.
Because in a particular, highly dangerous situation, the new Citroën GSA will react with a greater chance of survival than any rival car.
That situation arises when a blow-out occurs at speed.  At that point in most cars, survival is down to the reactions of the driver.
In the GSA we have something that's unique to Citroën: hydropneumatic, self-levelling suspension.
Instantly the blow-out occurs, this system compensates for the shift in the balance of the car, so it can be steered and driven almost as though nothing had happened.

Even around corners, until it's safe to stop.
Of course you may never have to rely on the GSA to save your life.  But you'll still find the car offers a lot to talk about.
For instance, not only is it a hatchback, it's a 5-door hatchback.
The 1300 engine, mated to a 5-speed gearbox, is capable of 100 mph.
The shape is aerodynamically-designed to cut down wind resistance and fuel consumption.*
And another effect of the self-levelling suspension is a comfortable ride.  (It's like having the potholes filled in as you drive along.)
A sensation we hope you'll discover soon, when you test drive the GSA.
