To the best of my knowledge, there is only one other book about
the CX - 'la Citroën CX de
mon père' by Marc-Anthoine Colin. Fine as that book
is, it does not begin to compare with Buurma's oeuvre which is
incredibly detailed; beautifully produced and presented and
informative.
The blurb on the back of the book states "Citroën
CX
, just as legendary as its predecessor, the DS. A beautifully
designed car, which turns even the worst road into a smooth
carpet. Just look at the futuristic dashboard, it looks like
it's come straight out of a spaceship! Once you get used to
the unconventional brakes and steering, you’ll never want to
drive anything else.
In this book CX-expert Michael
Buurma describes the CX with incredible attention to detail:
the development and evolution, by year, by type and to the
smallest detail. The book also includes the versions that
never got beyond the drawing board; a five-door CX, never seen
interior restylings, a GTi with a diesel engine and an
extended CX Pallas, to name but a few...
Surveys with technical data,
chassis numbers, body colours, price lists and sales and
production figures complete the picture. Now available in
French which might be easier than Dutch for the majorotiy of
readers, and even if French is too hard, there are countless
illustrations (often never published before) make this book a
must-have.
As the old adage goes, "It does what it says on the tin".
Quite simply, this is a book I wish I had written. The
Citrovisie publishing house goes from strength to strength with
books full of hitherto unpublished information and pictures.
Most of their books are only available in Dutch (but some have
been translated).
Very strongly recommended - even if you speak not a word of
Dutch or French!

Citrovisie was
founded by Thijs van der Zanden, who combines his passion
for writing and Citroëns.
Citrovisie publishes books which will interest the
enthusiasts of the Citroën brand.
The formula is simple: no basic books with well-known
facts and standard photographs, but books full of new
information and unseen images. Besides the heap of
information a Citrovisie book offers, it's also a lot of
fun browsing through the chapters, since there are many
images in the books most of which have never been
published before. |
