|
A benchmark in the leisure vehicle segment, renewed
several times, the CITROËN Berlingo is updating its approach with a new
take on function and design, strength and comfort, simplicity and
technology.
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015, the New
CITROËN Berlingo maintains its modular design, space, comfort and
equipment while becoming more:
MODERN: an
expressive design with a front end that is stronger and more assertive
without being aggressive, a new bumper with repositioned LED DRLs and a
new radiator grille. It also gains two new body colours underlining its
character; Acier Grey and Moka Brown;
CHEERFUL: a
level of comfort worthy of CITROËN expertise with all the features that
are fundamental to the comfort of the Berlingo: on the Multispace
version, the Modutop®, advanced comfort of the seating and suspension,
independent rear seats and an opening rear window; on the LCV version,
the Extenso® cabin and its three modular front seats. These strong
features take their place in a redesigned environment with, in
particular, two new upholstery designs, QUAD and LIBERIA cloth,
personalising the interior ambience of the New CITROËN Berlingo;
INGENIOUS:
intelligent technology for easier use, with the arrival of the new
7-inch touchdrive interface grouping media and navigation functions,
along with a Mirror Screen function, available from November 2015, to
duplicate smartphone content and stay connected at all times. It also
includes Active City Brake, along with a reversing camera and front
parking sensors to deliver an easier and more relaxed drive. Another
aspect of this vehicle’s intelligent technology are the efficient,
new-generation engines, with the adoption of BlueHDi diesel technology
and, depending on the engine, a 6-speed manual gearbox, for enhanced
driveability and lower fuel consumption and emissions. Thus, the New
CITROËN Berlingo Multispace delivers 4.1l/100 km of consumption and
109g of CO2 with BlueHDi 100 S&S BVM engine and the LCV version
allows to obtain CO2 emissions starting from 106g with BlueHDi 100
S&S ETG6 engine.
The New CITROËN Berlingo adapts to all requirements to deliver a
smoother, more intelligent and more comfortable everyday driving
experience.

MODERN
Robust and friendly, the New CITROËN Berlingo is
emphasizing its character with the expressive but non-aggressive design
of both the Multispace and LCV versions. The fully redesigned more
assertive front end gives it a modern, dynamic look that perfectly
reflects the CITROËN mindset.
The bumper, radiator grille, strip, DRLs and other
features have been carefully integrated to give the front end a sober,
modern look. This character is reinforced by a new bumper of taut lines
and radiator grille whose lower and wider layout structures the front
end and underlines the robust strength of the New CITROËN Berlingo. On
MULTISPACE trim level 2 versions, the LED DRLs are now positioned lower
down for a suggestion of greater power. The reworked chevrons are now
integrated between two solid areas, with a horizontal line angling out
to the headlamps, one of the key design features of CITROËN’s identity.
The bumper of the New CITROËN Berlingo ships with four
front end variants to satisfy all uses and showcase the move upmarket:
-
LIVE finish: a single front end for the MULTISPACE
and LCV version designed to convey a sense of robust strength and to
protect potential contact areas, with its self-coloured black bumper;
-
FEEL finish: a front end with a body-coloured bumper;
-
SHINE finish: a front end with a body-coloured
strip. The body of the New CITROËN Berlingo is lengthened visually by
black sections in relief, showcasing the light signature formed by the
LED DRLs and fog lamps;
-
XTR finish: a front end identical to the SHINE
finish but with an onyx black strip under the chevrons and a
self-coloured aluminium grey fairing.
The new, more modern CITROËN Berlingo also gains two new
body colours, Acier Grey and Moka Brown.

CHEERFUL
The New CITROËN Berlingo Multispace is a vehicle of
contained dimensions: 4.38m long, 1.81m tall (without the rearview
mirrors) and a 2.73m wheelbase. With its record-beating space and
versatility, it sets the standard in the leisure-vehicle segment.
Spacious: the
roomy cabin provides record-beating knee room for passengers at the
rear (24.5 cm) and generous boot capacity of 675 litres or up to 3,000
litres with the seats in row 2 removed.
Versatile and functional: the New CITROËN Berlingo
Multispace remains as friendly and functional as ever. The seating
layout is modular, with three independent seats at the rear. The cabin
also features generous storage space with, in particular, the airy and
functional Modutop® roof, an interior rack and removable central
console. Providing up to 170 litres of storage space depending on the
trim, these useful and ingenious features have proved highly popular
since the vehicle’s launch.
A vehicle that is functional on both the inside and
outside with a range of winning combinations for all uses: one or two
sliding side doors, a tailgate with a window that opens for easy and
direct access to the boot and Modutop® compartment, or asymmetric swing
doors for the boot to make it easier to carry long objects, for example.
Interior ambience:
a comfortable vehicle is first and foremost a vehicle whose interior
ambience is designed to make all the passengers feel at ease. In this
respect, the New CITROËN Berlingo Multispace gains two new upholstery
options:
-
Délice Grey QUAD cloth with the FEEL finish,
replacing the Blue QUAD cloth. A new shade underlined by turquoise
topstitching that is a perfect match for the fascia strip;
-
new LIBERIA cloth on the XTR and SHINE finish,
featuring ochre topstitching for a more modern, graphic effect.
The driving position maintains its ergonomic layout on
this new version, while the efficient and attractive dashboard that
makes driving a pleasure. The gear lever is dashboard-mounted, the seat
is height-adjustable, while the steering wheel is adjustable for height
and reach. Given its height of 1.80m, the New CITROËN Berlingo
Multispace has a large glazed area of 4.6 m2 for excellent visibility
(large panoramic windscreen, side windows and rear quarter lights) and
a saloon-type driving position.
Driving comfort:
on both the Multispace and LCV versions, the McPherson-type suspension
ensures a comfortable drive whatever the state of the road. Borrowed
from the CITROËN C4 Picasso, this proven suspension system delivers
pin-sharp steering and excellent driving comfort.
For the onboard acoustics, the words ‘peace’ and ‘quiet’
come to mind. Through the careful design and precise assembly of
exterior parts, New Berlingo is able to optimise aerodynamics and
minimise noise nuisance, with the engine encapsulated in an acoustic
cocoon, gravel-chipping protection for the floor pan and absorbent
materials in the cabin.

INGENIOUS
High-tech intelligence for a more relaxed drive
The CITROËN Berlingo already ships with a wide range of
equipment to make life easier: rear parking sensors, speed limiter and
cruise control, automatic lights (included in the visibility pack),
hill-start assist, and also Grip Control, an advanced anti-skid
function that improves front-wheel traction on all types of terrain.
In 2015, the New CITROËN Berlingo is set to gain a
number of new technologies:
-
Active City Brake (available from November 2015): an
automatic braking system designed to prevent collisions at low speed. A
short-range laser radar mounted at the top of the windscreen detects
any obstacles ahead, such as moving or stationary vehicles in the same
lane. At speeds of up to 30 kph, it identifies the possible risk and
communicates directly with the braking control unit to avoid an
accident or to limit impact by reducing vehicle speed. The driver has
no need to touch the brake pedal. The automatic braking function can
bring the vehicle to a complete stop if necessary. In this case, the
vehicle will stop temporarily (for around 1.5 seconds) to enable the
driver to take control by applying the brake. However, before
activating the automatic braking function, if the system identifies a
risk situation, it prefills the hydraulic brake system to bring the
brake pads into position for a faster response (PREFILL function,
transparent for the driver).
-
Front parking sensors now join the rear parking
sensors already available. These complementary technologies make
lighter work of manoeuvring in all situations.
-
Reversing camera: the New CITROËN Berlingo can be
equipped with a reversing camera for easier day-to-day parking. When
the driver puts the vehicle into reverse, the camera sends a picture of
the rear view to the new 7-inch touchscreen. The driver can then
manoeuvre easily using the guidelines showing the end of the vehicle
and its path.

High-tech intelligence
contributing to easier use
The New CITROËN Berlingo is gaining contemporary edge
with the latest easy-to-use brand technologies, such as a new 7-inch
touch drive interface that gives the dashboard a simpler, more
streamlined look. Featuring new telematics, this system includes more
functions than the previous generation:
-
a new touchscreen navigation function, making it
possible to view maps in perspective; display speed limits, take
account of traffic conditions and select the most fuel-efficient route;
-
a media function (including radio, audio streaming,
connection of portable appliances);
-
a telephone (hands-free function using the Bluetooth
connection, directory access, double call management);
-
vehicle parameter settings.
Featuring Mirror Screen technology, this new touchdrive
interface lets users run their smartphone apps safely while on the
road, and also to take advantage of third-party applications such as
Coyote and online radio using a wired or wireless connection (available
from November 2015).
The New CITROËN Berlingo, lets drivers use their
smartphone’s voice recognition function to safely make calls, select
and play music, or read and write text messages, all without taking
their eyes off the road. This function is activated using the voice
control button on the driving position and requires a compatible
telephone connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth.

High-tech intelligence with
fuel-efficient and virtuous engines
With the arrival of the New CITROËN Berlingo, the engine
range available from launch is expanding still further with, in
particular, the BlueHDi diesel family. Launched by CITROËN at the end
of 2013, this new generation of engines slashes nitrogen oxide (NOx)
emissions, while also reducing CO2 emissions by up to 4%. With the
BlueHDi engines, the brand has a technology meeting the future Euro 6
standard. For the BlueHDi 120 S&S engine, the Berlingo gains a
6-speed manual gearbox for the first time, for greater driveability
over any distance.
Fuel consumption and emission figures for the diesel
engine range now available with the New CITROËN Berlingo Multispace are
as follows:
-
BlueHDi 75 manual: 4.3l/100 km and 113g of CO2
-
BlueHDi 100 manual: 4.3l/100 km and 113g of CO2
-
BlueHDi 100 S&S manual: 4.1l/100 km and 109g of
CO2
-
BlueHDi 100 S&S ETG6: 4.2l/100 km and 109g of CO2
-
BlueHDi 120 S&S 6-speed manual: 4.3l/100 km and
113g of CO2 (depending countries)
These engines are upgraded versions of the Euro 5 HDi
engines with two major improvements: optimised internal efficiency and
lower mechanical friction losses.
They are able to satisfy the Euro 6 standard with an
innovative exhaust system comprising:
-
an oxidation catalyst positioned at the rear of the
engine to eliminate the hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) from
combustion;
-
an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) module,
positioned upstream of the particulate filter. With the injection of
Adblue® (a mixture of water and urea), the module transforms up to 90%
of nitrogen oxides (NOx) into inoffensive water vapour (H2O) and
nitrogen (N2);
-
an additive particulate filter, launched as a world
first in 2000 by the PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN Group designed to eliminate up
to 99.9% of particulates based on number.
The innovative and unique character of this exhaust line
lies in its specific layout: the SCR module positioned upstream of the
additive particulate filter is the only after-treatment system able to
reduce NOx emissions by up to 90% as well as reducing CO2 emissions by
up to 4%.
*The Adblue® is stored in a 17l tank at the rear of the
vehicle. This quantity is sufficient for 20,000 km. It is easy to fill
the tank using the fuel flap accessible outside the vehicle, next to
the neck of the fuel tank.
