Worthwhile Improvement

Much better now

It can be claimed with some validity that the GS has rivals which do almost as much without resorting to anything like the same complication. But none of them do quite as much; and the increase in engine size has done the GS a lot of good. In its original form, it was just too much of a French taxation special; now it has sufficient performance not to need full throttle to maintain station in a traffic stream.
Judging by our results, it has become more economical too, and we would not be surprised if engine life had been improved as an extra bonus. Citroen have worked hard through the last couple of years introducing some sensible changes - of which the new interior door handles are a good example. The GS remains average driver to accept without some re-adjustment-but one suspects that is all part of its appeal for its owners. The rest of its appeal, as a combination of comfort and roadworthiness, is obvious.
